The National Religious Retirement Office (NRRO) sponsors a national annual appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious. The distribution of funds donated to this collection provides religious institutes with vital support for the current and future care of elder members. The NRRO also offers numerous assistance services that include workshops, fiscal and demographic analysis, and the coordination of volunteer consultants who are experts in eldercare, financial planning, and community leadership.
The leadership team of the Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart participates in an eldercare consultation with NRRO consultants.
Since the first appeal for the Retirement Fund for Religious was conducted, over $685 million in financial support has been distributed to religious communities in the United States. In 2013, the NRRO awarded $23 million in Direct Care Assistance to 424 religious communities, or an average of $1,024 for every member of an eligible Catholic religious community who is age 70 or older.
